Meet the Parents

Familes are the fabric of our neighborhoods. Meet some moms and dads around Boca Raton who are good to know.

Craig Agranoff

Craig Agranoff is all about using the latest technology to bring people together. And, oh yeah, pizza. He's all about pizza.  Maybe you visit one of his websites, like worstpizza.com, which has reviewed nearly all the pizza joints in Boca and many more around the world. Maybe you've been to one of his Tweetups. His passion, besides pizza, is to bring people together, to foster a sense of community in a place where people don't necessarily know their neighbors. Read more about him here.

Julie Bower

Raising kids is tough enough for anyone. Add a career in law-enforcement to the mix. And a reality TV show on top of that - and you have the life of Julie Bower.
You've probably seen this Boca Raton mom on last fall's TLC series, Police Women of Broward County. Bower is a detective in the sex crimes and missing persons unit of the Broward Sheriff's Office. Read more about her here.

Rene Weinraub

Rene Weinraub is a big believer in playtime. As a child growing up in rural South Africa, she reveled in floating down the river on an inner tube and roaming freely on her bike. Now all grown up with a little girl of her own, Weinraub has devoted her career to children, and the idea that playtime and exploration are keys to development. She and her husband recently opened Boca Play Station, an indoor playground and cafe. Drop by for a play date. Click here to read more.

Amy Morris

Amy Morris is one of the most organized people you could meet. And her book, Got Kids? Get Organized! can help you get your act together, too. Widowed by the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, Amy's book project helped her work through the grief. Now she lives in Woodfield  Country Club with her two children. Click here to read more about Amy and how you can get organized, too.

Jon Kolbe

You might say life handed Jon Kolbe a truckload of lemons this year -- and he made lemonade. Really. Out of work for nine months, the ordeal gave this Boca dad a chance to reconnect with his kids. He built them a lovely lemonade stand, which they used to raise money for the sea turtles at Gumbo Limbo. Jon is one of those down-to-earth parents who is good to know. He'll keep you grounded. Read more about him here.
